Green Infrastructure
An increasing number of cities are turning to green infrastructure—infrastructure designed to mimic natural hydrology—to reduce the impacts of stormwater runoff, increase the greening of our neighborhoods, and generate new job opportunities. The multiple benefits that green infrastructure provides over those of traditional infrastructure begin with the reduction of paved surfaces and lead to cost-savings and quality-of-life improvements for residents.
CNT is a national leader in green infrastructure. Our work has resulted in landmark publications and analytical tools used widely by communities across the United States to make the case for investment in green infrastructure. We have piloted more than 30 local installations (and monitored 15 of them) and assisted our community partners across the Great Lakes states to plan for investment in green infrastructure. CNT serves on national and state-wide green infrastructure committees, and staff travel across the US to speak about the subject.
